As Siem Reap starts to awaken we are heading out to the Angkor Archaeological park.  We enter through one of the four ancient city gates, stopping briefly to soak up the atmosphere.  We journey on, into the ancient city of Angkor Thom and to our first real stop at the breathtaking Bayon Temple. Featuring 54 towers adorned with 216 stone faces, Bayon is a sight to behold.

We then explore Baphoun,  the Elephant and Leper King terraces, as well as the ancient Royal palace compound and the beautiful but obscure Preah Palilay.

Head to Ta Nei temple and enjoy your packed breakfast there before walking through beautiful jungle to Ta Prohm via its serene north gate.

Ta Prohm is a jungle temple where Lara Croft Tomb raider was filmed. It’s one of very few temples of Angkor which is still covered by giant silk and cotton trees, a must get photo for sure!

Enjoy a relaxed lunch in temple area.

In the afternoon visit the largest religious monument of the world Angkor Wat. Your guide will take you through its galleries where you can witness delicate carvings and sculptures and they will bring those stone carvings to life while narrating the stories behind them.

Head back to your hotel and enjoy your hard earned pool time after a full days explorations.

What to Wear

The sandy soil on the steps of the temples can create quite a slip hazard.  We strongly suggest you wear sturdy footwear.  Many parts of the temple areas are exposed, please wear protective clothing, hat and sunscreen.

  • Strict Dress Codes are applied when visiting Angkor Wat - access to upper levels will not be granted if shoulders or knees are exposed.  You must cover up with clothing items - a scarf or sarong will not be accepted.

  • Cambodian culture is conservative and revealing clothing is not appropriate for the temples.  Please be respectful of Cambodia's culture and avoid wearing anything too revealing
